5 Effective Tips on How To Become More Loving

Do you want to become a more loving person, but don’t know where to start?

Whenever we get overwhelmed or frustrated, all the tension in our body gets stuck there and doesn’t have time to drain away. Instead, it accumulates in our muscles, stuck like a traffic jam. In order to open our hearts and minds, we practice mindful breathing. We breathe in as we focus on our breath, and out as we return our attention to the present moment. Each time we do this, we’re releasing some of the pain from the past or worrying about the future.

Instead of trying to ignore the difficult feelings that might pop up (like loneliness or sadness), give yourself time to sit with them and explore them mindfully. What do they feel like in your body? What situations tend to bring these feelings up? Is there a time of year when you notice them more? If you begin to notice your feelings as they come and go, this helps you become more aware of what’s happening in your life, rather than just reacting to situations. This is the first step toward choosing how you want to respond.
