My 2022 Personal Growth Experience.

Sometimes personal growth is a conscious effort, while at times it just happens. My growth in 2022 just happened, I had to follow suit. Started the year with no plans and an open heart (anything that happens this year, I am ready for it). But, the type of personal growth I had was so tremendous; Cringing from work experience to a series of entrepreneurship training, meeting great people that shaped my life, blogging, and other beautiful experiences.

My 2022 started with the resumption of the second semester of my second year at Uniben. It wasn’t long, we had a break due to the Edo Sports Festival that will be held at Uniben. We were asked to go home for the break, but I refused to travel back home. I told my friends I needed a job. It wasn’t long before an opportunity to work as a call agent in Viisaus Technology came by and I flinched at it. After a series of training and assessments, I got the job.

I started working at Viisaus in February, and the first thing I learned was time management. Working with Viisaus is no small feat so the need to keep on time was crucial. I also learned about work ethics as that was the first time I worked for a company, and also how to meet up with a target. I was always willing to learn any new trend in the company and that enabled my fast growth.

Training opportunities started coming in April and I grabbed all of them! The first training was held by Viisaus, giz, and GOPA and it was on Employability skills and Personal Branding. I was opportune to meet Mr. Ose and Mr. Olaniyi who were the facilitators of this beautiful program. I learned how to write a resumé, what personal branding was, interview dos and don’ts, how to manage finance, and how to track my expenses. It was a training that started the journey of my personal growth, and I yearned for more.

May came with the opportunity to be trained in entrepreneurship. I joined SEYP, with their partnership with giz and GOPA, in their CREATE MODULE. The training started with how to create an enterprise and the various skills that are needed. The MSME(macro, small, medium enterprise) was well explained. By the end of the training, I learned how to create a Business model canvas(BMC), conduct a market survey for a new business, and oversee a business properly.

I had two additional training sessions in June and missed one. The first was the Farmer Business School Training where I learned about the business opportunities in agriculture and more about the cultivation of some crops of interest. I also learned how to make coconut and carrot oil. The second training was on Product photography, packaging, and customer engagement facilitated by Edo Jobs, Genius Hub, and giz. This training was an eye-opener. It is the best thing that happened to me. I learned how to take good pictures of my products, how to package my products, and how to get and maintain my customers. The training I missed was on how to write a business plan due to work.

It is very important to note that I have the certification for all this training and I cherish them! And my work experience was from February to December, with little breaks in between.

After the Product photography training at Edo Jobs, I decided to work for Necktar Chips company. It was a bittersweet experience. At one point I wanted to quit but I worked till the end of one month. I discovered my passion for cooking from this job and I learned how crucial time management is as my salary was deducted from lateness.

I stopped working totally after my experience at Necktar. I went back to writing and started writing at. blogger.com. #ogechigenevievewrites came about. It is a lifestyle blog. I started reading too. I became friends with nature and fell in love with evening strolls.

I met many amazing people from my evening strolls and had a connection with nature.

The amazing people I met in 2022 were mostly from training and work. At some point sharing ideas made me want to know more. I am always researching new findings. I also had virtual training. I volunteered on some occasions and worked on any quick job.

Toward the end of 2022, I was an entirely new person. I became interested in improving my writing skill, I learned more about personal cleanliness and all ramifications of my life. It was indeed a thrilling experience!
