Product Designer VS UX Designer

Yesterday one of my followers asked me what’s the difference between UX designer and Product Designer.

I think we could debate on this for some time as probably people will have different opinions. So here’s my take on it:

UX Designer is responsible for product satisfying user needs. UX Designer is responsible for User Experience, easy right? He’s the one who is primarily making sure the Product is optimized to deliver the best experience to the end user.

Product Designer — to my personal opinion is a problem-solver who came out of being UX Designer (most probably) and he’s acting via a formula:

So he’s taking into consideration business aspects and User experience and defines Product Strategy. He’s definitely in touch with stakeholders.

So before we go on {you probably are already arguing with me right?} I’d like to say something in addition to the above.

There are so many overlaps in such roles as UX designer, Product Designer, Product Manager, UI/UX Designer….and those overlaps are making people confused.

UX Designer in smaller company might be responsible for UX and UI and Product strategy.

I had a job at the startup where as a Designer I was responsible for UX and UI and stakeholder communication and also grabbed info from support feedback and sales feedback etc and was overseeing overall product direction.

Isn’t that too much for one person? Hell yeah!

But as you can see TITLE IS NOTHING.

I had multiple examples where I was asked what title do I want to have cause nobody really cared. All companies or clients need is you to be able to make stuff happening. And if you do, who cares about the title. Call yourself UX buddy if you wish) Do you agree? Or let’s debate?))🥰
