How the Right Wing has owned the Discourse

The world has turned upside down, inverted, inside out, twisted every which way the sickest topologically inclined mind could envision. In 2019, Madness has been raised to the power of Absurdity, and divided by Chaos. We have actually reached the point where Fox News is where we can turn to find true discourse, important conversations, and meaningful news. Don’t take my word for it, see it for yourself. This is now where the real discussions are happening:

Just the other day I had this stunning, shell shock moment where I was changing between Fox News and MSNBC. On Fox they were discussing some bill that was being put forth in congress at the moment, with a congressman arguing for or against it, I really don’t care to remember which. The point is, they were speaking about legislation being proposed. I turned over to MSNBC at the exact same moment to discover this:

Seriously… They spent 15 minutes discussing that Trump doesn’t want to be impeached and running through everyone’s favorite fan fiction scenario of how he will be impeached. This makes me sick. This is not news, this isn’t even fake news, it’s trash.

How have we reached the point where the radical right wing is controlling the discourse and moving us further and further towards fascism?

We must distinguish sharply between rhetoric and dialectic. Rhetoric is the art of lecture and oration. The communication is one way, from one person to a mass audience, where the speaker dictates and the people soak it up. Dialectical discourse, on the other hand, is a bilateral action, where both parties influence each other. It’s a one-on-one encounter, which directly affects each participant and indirectly affects anyone watching. Rhetoric inherently takes a condescending position of teaching to someone less informed, while dialectical discourse is inherently respectful with give and take.

Now before you blow up my comments or my drag me on twitter, let me say that yes, I know that “everyone knows” that right wingers are the rude people who don’t listen and left wingers are compassionate, caring people who yadda yadda yadda. It’s bullshit.

The fact of the matter is that the right wing, starting with the libertarians, have embraced and held sacrosanct the ideal of free speech and civil discourse. This was absolutely crucial. When right wingers were were being banned from speaking or shouted down by leftists, the writing was already on the wall. The left had kneecapped ourselves. Time and time again, leftists demonstrated themselves as being intolerant to free speech and incapable of civil discourse. This is beyond problematic.

Thinking occurs via discussion, either when one consciousness converses with another, or when consciousness takes itself as it’s own object and converses with itself in a simulated discussion. Without discussion, thought stops. This is why freedom of speech and civil discourse MUST be sacrosanct.

The libertarians knew this, and I have upmost respect for people like Dave Rubin and the members of the Intellectual Dark Web for uniting under this banner of free speech and civil discourse. What the Intellectual Dark Web was lacking though, was serious leftist voices and I’ve been calling for leftists to engage with the IDW .

While the self righteous and sanctimonious Leftists in the twittersphere tried to see who could be the most edgelord and out “woke” each other, the right wing was preparing for intellectual battle. I have been encouraging leftists to watch Fox News, to read right wing commentators, and I have been thoroughly ostracized for it. I have banned from nearly every online left wing space because I insist on listening to the other side and trying to maintain some shred of decency. Leftists want to cry that “the internet isn’t real life” but the truth of the matter is that the internet is the way that most people get most of their information about things and how they interact with people of various viewpoints. The internet isn’t real life, it’s more than that. It’s the place where our culture is being shaped and formed far more than your real life interactions.

I have been saying that the Left wing needs to be disciplined and have ethical standards for how we conduct ourselves in online spaces.

Time and time again, the left continues to embrace the stupid, loudest, most idiotic and reactionary impulses and we continuously keep losing politically and ideologically to right wingers.

The leftists continue to confirm every right wing stereotype about condescending ivory tower leftists because they can’t humble themselves for a moment and consider than maybe listening to someone they disagree with is worthwhile.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian had the courage to engage with President Trump, and they were attacked in the worst ways online. The entire left wing and much of the black community was attacking them, calling them stupid, or worse, racist attacks like “coons”. It was despicable. I was proud of Kanye for doing what he did and I was proud of Trump as well, it was a good moment but everyone just wanted to hate hate hate because they can’t get over or past or through their own feelings for a moment to see what’s actually best.

The result of all of this is that President Trump as proposed one of the most significant prison reform ideas in our generation with his Second Chance plan. This is something I never dreamed would occur under a Republican administration and I had little hope for the feckless neoliberal democrats.

Still, leftists are begrudgingly trying to do everything they can to avoid giving Trump credit for this.

Let me be clear to all of you leftists out there: Grow the fuck up. This pansy ass emotionally weak bullshit has gone on too far, it’s destroyed the left wing discourse itself, and it’s given the right wing full control of the Overton window.

If the tankie teen twitter guard can’t grow the fuck up and be serious, there is no hope. They are going to make even worse mistakes than the courageous and noble Soviets did. Leftists today are nothing like the disciplined, ethical, hard working, proletarians of a century ago, and there is absolutely no hope if the Left cannot get it’s act together.

Capitalism as we’ve known it in the 20th century is over, it’s dying and collapsing and it’s going to turn into something much different. There is an opportunity here for revolutionaries to seize this and make real change to keep the communist idea alive, but I fear that we have no revolutionaries, just a bunch of pathetic rebels.
