Peaches for Hope Mission

This is a time unlike any I remember. The news brings a steady drip of bad to terrifying news and there’s no telling what tomorrow will bring. I’ve been fluctuating between dread, despair, and a strange acceptance that what will happen will happen. I can imagine I’m not the only one. Even if we have not physically caught the virus, our society has been infected with it. It has deprived us of the thing we Americans thrive upon, freedom. This is going to be the true cost of the virus. Things may never be the same.

In all the doom and gloom through, there is something else happening. Our society’s immune system has been activated. On my lonely strolls around my neighborhood instead of averted eyes I’m met with smiles. In our mutual fight against this enemy we have new common ground. It is going to take efforts on every level, from the individual to the collective power of our government, to keep this disaster mitigated and our society together. It is time to come together and mend ourselves.

I have been thinking about how I can help in these times. I’ve done what anyone else is hopefully doing. Fully adhering to social distancing, keeping in touch with friends and family digitally, and offering to help out people in my community in any way that I can. I want to do more, but the best thing we can do is stay home. I want to do what I can from home as well though.

I brainstormed ideas, and came up with some good but difficult to execute ideas.

For example: There is going to be a medical mask shortage. If it would help, I can set up a youtube page to publish videos on how to DIY from homegoods useful medical supplies. The main issue I have with this is that the homemade masks might not be useful and the medical providers might be unable to generally use donated goods like that, but just an idea I would be open to more fully exploring. (May or may not have an action plan ready)

Ultimately it’s unrealistic to accomplish that on my own, but so is everything else. I re-evaluated my skill set and how I can contribute. Upon reflection what I want to share is my upbeat attitude and perspective. My life has not been easy up to this point and I’ve learned many lessons that might help people cope with this mess. Honestly, it’s going to help me just sharing. If anyone else is uplifted it would bring me nothing but joy, and if I can help anyone spread their own ideas I will do that in a heartbeat as well.

In order to execute this, I’ve decided to start this page: Peaches for Hope.

I want to share my perspective and help disseminate actionable ideas. I’m sure there are many other people that feel the same way. If you have any ideas I am open to anything. I have an entrepreneurial background and can help develop ideas into acting organizations.

Once again if you have any ideas please share. This is an unprecedented time and some creative solutions could help. Maybe just sharing your thoughts ideas will have the added benefit of making you feel better. I know it does for me.

PS: They are calling for blood donations so if you are not quarantined please give. We will need everything we can get.
