Oh Love. How I just love love!

I love all the kinds of love there are. The unconditional love that holds no bounds and makes you instinctively protect type of love you feel for your parents, sibling, children and if your lucky, your spouse. Then there is compassionate love that you feel for a stranger as you hear their story or witness their struggle. And grateful love. When you are the one in need of compassion and someone shows it and not only makes you feel heard but makes you feel worthy of being heard. Or friendship love, where the friendship has crossed beyond just friends and you know that the person has made a home in your heart and you will love them, near or far and unconditionally for all of time.

I think everyone is a fan of new love whether it’s in the subcategory of first love, puppy love, I never thought I’d find it love or you made me love again love. Then there is the love that hits you when you respect or hold someone in a high regard. It’s similar to grateful love with a little something extra that you can’t put your finger on. There is love brought on by a moment in time, positive or negative, that gives you a bond with a person that will never leave you. An unbreakable bond for having that person there, in that moment. A memory stemmed from fear or pure joy that stays with you whether you want it to or not.

There is love that hurts.

Love that you enter into that sweeps you off your feet and you just know that when that love disappoints you it’s going to break you from the inside out, and eventually it does. There “is in love” and “have love” and so many types that I could write endlessly describing them all.

No matter what kind of love you find yourself in, it always starts with a spark and sometimes ends in fireworks! Picture worthy and beautiful fireworks paint the sky in all colors, shapes, types and makes you ooh and aah at it’s size and beauty. But some sparks become fires. Just like fireworks they can be big and make you ooh but rarely do they ever make you aah. Fires can quickly become out of control and destroy everything in it’s path. It spreads as it roars and devours. While there has never been a fire that hasn’t become contained at some point there is always a sacrifice or loss with a fire.

Years ago I was watching Dr. Phil counsel a married couple. He asked the man if he still loved her. The guy started to describe his frustrations but ultimately said of course I love her, I will always love her…
