Individual Decision making aka Solo Dudhsagar waterfalls trekking

Decision making plays a key role in a success or a failure of a product right from a CEO’s decisions to the user decisions everything will decide the path of a product.

Mainly when a person is alone and you want him to take a decision, the scenario is entirely different what happens in his mind is hypothetical.

I will share my Individual decision making experience on my solo travel to Dudhsagar waterfalls which is located 554 km from Bangalore.

That Friday , I came early from office at 6 pm and started sleeping at my room since i felt very tired. I slept for 2 hours and it was 8 pm I woke up, I told early that I went a solo trip but it is kind of lie because I went with two friends one is my crazy mind and my conservative mind(always wanted to kill it). Most of the decisions of this trip are based on the result of the arguments between my two friends.

Yes, coming back to the story that crazy mind evokes me and said we should go some solo trip its been a long time, and decided to go somewhere out of Bangalore but don’t know where there is a big Quarrel between my conservative mind and my crazy mind

Decision 1:

Conservative mind: How and where you will go at this time?

Crazy mind: Will go to the railway station and decide it will be adventurous,

Conservative mind: No this is not safe at all, you should have a plan then only you can enjoy things what if the place you decide closed tomorrow and day after? then you will turned up with nothing.

Crazy mind: F**k plans!!! I insist leaving this city tonight you with me or not?

Conservative mind: I agree to this in a half mind but don’t ever dare to blame me if something went wrong, but I will do my job by asking lot of questions on your trip, you can’t stop me from that is my nature that is why I created for…

Crazy mind : Okay okay do what sh*t you want to do, I don’t care.

My crazy mind won fortunately and I decided to leave form my house , Took a towel, shrug and nothing else left my room.

I went to the railway station and was looking for the next 10 trains and also google maps scrolling around Karnataka and finally decided on the place that is Dudhsagar which is on my checklist for years and decided to go there,

Then I have remembered, I already had a small plan for this where the train starts at 9 PM from bangalore , I looked at the time it’s 8 PM then I rushed to the counter but unfortunately that train is from different station of bangalore not in main station.

Flop plan then my conservative mind wake up and start yelling at my crazy mind and pushed me to go to my room, but crazy mind has lot of auxiliary plans which made the trip happen.

Then I was thinking what to do and slept in the platform for some time, Suddenly waked up with a plan cancelled dream and started looking into maps for different ways of reaching there and found the nearby biggest city Hubli and my crazy mind got a clue for the travel and again the argument started

Decision 2:

Crazy mind: From Hubli its Just 158 km by the time(at 3 to 4 in the morning) we reach there It will be morning so that we will get some public transport to reach castle rock.

Conservative mind : What if there is no public transport in the early morning how will you manage that?

Crazy mind: Chill bro! we can sleep at the platform for 2 hours it will be 6 or 7 in the morning then we can start..

Conservative mind: Don’t be stupid, We doesn’t have a plan in first case and now this will also be a great problem to reach the destination itself.

Crazy mind: Not at all a issue we can do that, if we return to room at this point it will be an awkward situation to talk with room mates that we did not gone anywhere.

Since there are lot of support I gave to my crazy mind obviously it wins the argument and I took a ticket to Hubli and rushed to get into the train but the train is already in rush.

I managed to get into the train through emergency exit hehe, Went into the train and got a seat to sit near a Fat aunt's leg (yeah of course it is a unreserved compartment). I managed to hug my bag and started sleeping as usual, calculating the time of reaching Hubli in the google maps and kept alarm before half an hour, woke up and talked to the near by uncle to know about how can I reach castle rock from Hubli.

He told there is a station called Londa which is 4 stations from Hubli, once you will reach Londa Jn. You will get lot of trains to Castle rock. Then decided to travel without taking ticket for 4 stations and my morning started at Londa Jn.

Had my worst Idli and vada in that station, got ticket to castle rock for the immediate train and reached castle rock.

I Don’t know about that the whole trekking is on railway track and started my trekking. As the Introduction is always good in some movies same happend here also Initially I thought It will be a 6 km trekking and later get to know it is going to be a 14 km longest trek on the rail.

Before my conservative mind started talking with my crazy mind I started to walk really fast and reached 2 km.

Reached to a spot where the nature beauty lies on the both side one is the mountain on the right and also the small water falls on the left which is mesmerized with the beauty of the morning sunlight.

I sat there for half an hour and I have to take a decision which is started by my crazy mind to take bath alone on the small falls in the middle of the thick forest.

Decision 3:

Crazy mind: Have you done this before ? Bathing in the middle of the forest alone and it is really adventurous I suggest.

Conservative mind: You always guide him with a bad decisions, No just continue the trial we will be sort of time and also what if some one reach this point as the time of your bath that would be really embarrassing .

Crazy mind: This F**ker will try to spoil every small adventurous thing in life. Just do it.

and I was in the bigger dilemma because of these guys who make me mad to make that decision and that is where the half an hour went.

Yes as usual the crazy mind wins.

After the best shower in my life Left the place and continue my trail into the forest. One best part about this trekking is the Tunnels till now I counted 4 tunnels the second tunnel is the longest tunnel so far as I went into the tunnel I can’t see lights on both sides its pitch dark for about 5 minutes walk.

After the 4th tunnel I realised some pain in my legs because of my slipper yes since there is zero plan I didn’t wear any shoes just a bathroom slipper and my conservative mind started to scold me “you didn’t have any sense to take this decision now see you will fail to complete this trek for sure.. “

This time my crazy mind didn’t talked anything I found a small pit stop where railway workers stay named Sonalium, I slept there for an hour. and also get to know there are 10 tunnels to reach Dudhsagar. Now I atleast have this calculation of 6 more tunnels to reach Dudhsagar and Continued my trekking at 1 PM in the noon and about to reach 6th tunnel, before that there are few railway workers fixing the bolds in the track. Even though I know how long is Dudhsagar but just for the conversation I asked the same question.

He answered and also added up with a shocking information that few hours ago they witnessed a tiger nearby the forest and also they said like it is not advisable to go alone so don’t go, If you go back to sonalium pit stop you will get a service engine to travel for another 2 kms they said, Now both guys woke up and started their argument.

Decision 4:

Conservative mind: See this happens because of the lack of plan!! now what you guys will do, just hear me this one time since it is a life threat just hear my word once.

Crazy mind remains silent since it is a life threat and for the first time crazy mind doesn’t argued with the conservative mind and said just yes.

The sudden accepting of the conservative mind’s decision is not just like the crazy mind is lost, Crazy mind accepted it just because another new experience is yet to happen that is the Train engine travel. :-)

I returned back on the track to sonalium station and awaited for the service Engine with anxiety and with the recommendation of the station master I get into the railway engine for the first time sitting in the front like a kid putting his legs down and yes one of the best 20 minutes in life.

He left me crossed 2 tunnels and I started walking, There I met 20 energetic college students who bunked their college and came for this trial and started remembering my college days by having conversation with them as the trail continues to the end and I have found a Dudhsagar nameboard after Tunnel 10.

200 mts from the board I found the majestic Dudhsagar Falls and felt like worth the walk and all the arguments. Played in the water for sometime and suddenly my conservative mind started giving inputs to me saying its 4.20 PM go back to the station because in sonalium station the master told that last train is on 5 PM if you leave the train you have to stay near the falls only and the next train is on next day morning 6 PM only.

I Again rushed back to the station, since it is not a railway station there is no way to take tickets, and travelled my first without ticket in my life till bangalore 😜..

And this become one hell of a cheapest trip(Total cost of the trip including food: ₹640 bucks) with lot of open minded decisions and Individual decision making experience I reached bangalore on sunday morning and reached home safely.
